Virtual EMDR Intensives in Texas |
You know you are enough. But your body doesn't believe it.
It is still running the old program:
-
"It's my fault."
-
"I am not enough."
-
"I have to earn love."
-
"I don't belong."
-
"I am not safe."
And that program shows up as:
-
Perfectionism that never feels satisfied
-
Deflecting compliments you actually deserve
-
Saying yes when your whole body means no
-
Feeling guilty every time you stop moving
-
Burnout that rest doesn't fix
-
Pain and illness your doctors can't fully explain
This is not a mindset problem. This is a nervous system problem.
My Heart Compass Method is a 3-phase EMDR intensive protocol developed specifically to update the nervous system programming at the source — not just manage the symptoms, but resolve the wound that created them.
97% of clients feel the shift during the intensive — not weeks later.

What Is an EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR intensive is a concentrated format of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Instead of weekly 50-minute sessions spread over months, an intensive compresses the same healing into 1 to 3 consecutive days of focused, uninterrupted processing.
In a standard EMDR session, about 20–30 minutes of actual processing happens per hour. The rest is warm-up, check-in, and wind-down. Then a full week passes before you pick up where you left off. That week-long gap can slow — and sometimes stall — the healing cycle.
An EMDR intensive changes that structure. You stay in the process long enough for the brain to complete full reprocessing cycles. You go deeper, faster — and the results are felt during the intensive itself, not weeks later.
EMDR therapy was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s. It is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD by the American Psychological Association (APA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Over 30 randomized controlled trials have established EMDR's effectiveness for PTSD.
The intensive format applies this same evidence-based therapy in a condensed timeline. Research published in peer-reviewed journals, including studies indexed on PubMed, shows that intensive EMDR application is well-tolerated and produces reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms — often in a very short timeframe — with results comparable to or better than weekly EMDR treatment.
At Journey EMDR Therapy, EMDR intensives are delivered virtually via a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, serving clients in San Antonio and throughout all of Texas.
Is an EMDR Intensive Right for You?

This intensive is designed for a specific person. Not everyone is ready for this format — and Vanessa will tell you honestly if you are not.
You are a good fit if:
-
You have done prior healing work — therapy, spiritual practice, self-development — and still feel the old patterns running
-
You understand your wounds but cannot seem to shift them at the feeling level
-
You are a high achiever who is tired of achieving to prove your worth
-
You want to stop passing your patterns to your children
-
You can regulate emotions — you are not in active crisis
-
You are ready to go deeper than talk therapy has taken you
EMDR intensives help with:
-
PTSD and complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
-
Childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
-
Anxiety — generalized, social, and panic rooted in past events
-
Trauma bonding and recovery from toxic relationships
-
Perfectionism, people-pleasing, and imposter syndrome
-
Burnout rooted in nervous system dysregulation
-
Generational trauma — breaking cycles before they reach your children
-
Depression linked to unresolved past experiences
You do not need a diagnosis. You just need to feel that something has not healed — and be ready to go deeper.
01
Identify It
Using EMDR protocol and bilateral stimulation, we locate the exact memory where "not enough" was first encoded. We access it somatically where it lives in the body.
The Heart Compass Method— How This Intensive Works
Most approaches to healing work at the level of the mind. You understand your patterns. You develop insight. That is valuable — but it has a ceiling.
Trauma is not stored as a thought. It lives in the nervous system — as body tension, gut reactions, and responses that fire before your mind catches up. That is why insight alone rarely produces a permanent shift.
The Heart Compass Method is a 3-phase protocol developed by Vanessa Romero-Henderson, LCSW-S. It combines EMDR therapy, somatic processing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques in an intensive format — reaching the wound at the level where it actually lives.
It is the only method of its kind offered in Texas.

02
Process It
Through EMDR and IFS processing, your adult self meets your younger self. Your nervous system receives the unconditional love it needed, updating the somatic imprint.
03
Update It
Knowledge becomes embodied reality. The new program installs on a 3-day timeline, allowing for cycles weekly sessions often can't achieve.
